It then turns to the story of Jacob and Laban as an extended case study — not to caricature either man, but to draw an honest, careful contrast between privilege that is inherited and character that is developed through prolonged, faithful service. From there, the book explores what servanthood builds in a leader — character, competence, emotional maturity, and a shepherd's heart — before moving through the qualities every great servant must carry, the character every great servant must guard, and the transition every faithful servant will one day face: the transition from serving another person's vision to carrying one's own.
