*YouTube Monetization* = making money from your YouTube channel 💰

Let’s break it down simple:

1. *YouTube*  

You know this one already - the app/website where people upload videos like comedy, music, tutorials, vlogs, etc.

2. *Monetization*  

Monetization = turning something into money.  

So “YouTube Monetization” = YouTube paying you money because of your videos.

*How does it work?*  

When your videos get views, YouTube puts ads on them. Like those “Skip Ad in 5 seconds” you see before videos.  

Companies pay YouTube to show those ads. Then YouTube shares some of that money with you, the video owner.

*Simple example:*  

You post a video: “How to solve Maths WAEC questions”  

1 million students watch it.  

YouTube shows ads to those students.  

YouTube makes money from the ads → Then gives you part of it. Maybe $100, $500, depends on views + country.

*But there’s a condition - YouTube Partner Program YPP*  

YouTube won’t pay just anyone. You must qualify first:  

1. *1000 subscribers* - 1000 people must follow your channel  

2. *4000 watch hours* - People must watch your videos for 4000 hours total in 12 months  

OR 10 million Shorts views in 90 days

When you hit that, you apply. If YouTube approves, then ads start showing and money starts coming.

*Other ways YouTube pays aside from ads:*  

1. Channel memberships - fans pay monthly to support you  

2. Super Chats - people pay during live videos  

3. Brand deals - companies pay you to talk about their product
