There is a realm of Christian living that few ever enter. It is a realm where miracles flow naturally, where the voice of God is clear, where the presence of the Holy Spirit is tangible, and where the works of darkness have no power over you. But this realm does not come cheaply — it demands a price.

That price is death to self.

When Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:31, “I die daily”, he was not being poetic. He was revealing the secret to walking in the power of God without interruption. Every single day, Paul crucified his own desires, comforts, and opinions so that the Holy Spirit could fully live and work through him.

In contrast, many Christians today desire the anointing but are unwilling to pay the price. They want the power without the process, the glory without the sacrifice, the miracles without the dying. We want the oil, but we resist the crushing. We pray for more of the Holy Spirit, but we refuse to give Him the space in our lives that only comes when self is laid in the grave.

The truth is simple but sobering:

If you want the anointing to remain, you must die to the flesh. The Bible warns us:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

A lion’s appetite is for flesh. Spiritually, this means that if Satan finds the works of the flesh in you, he has found his prey. But Jesus gave us the example to follow. He said in John 14:30:

“…the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”

The devil came, but found nothing in Him. Why? Because Jesus was not operating in the flesh — He was full of the fruit of the Spirit. And here is a truth you must never forget: lions don’t eat fruit.

This book will challenge you to live in such a way that the devil finds nothing in you. It will show you how to starve the flesh until it loses its appetite, and how to feed the Spirit until He becomes the ruling influence of your life. It will show you that pleasure is not always your friend, and that even good things can rob you of God’s best if they occupy your mind ahead of His voice.

You will see from the life of Paul, the example of Jesus, and the failures of the disciples that there is one great hindrance to the anointing — the flesh. And you will learn how to crucify it daily.

This is not a book for spiritual infants who are still seeking God only for “daily bread.” This is a manual for those who want to mature into vessels that God can trust with His power.

The anointing is not for the casual Christian. It is for the crucified Christian. And until we die daily, the Spirit cannot live daily through us.

Welcome to the narrow road — the road where you lose your life for His sake, and in the losing, you find the anointing.
