The Polite Boy (Rising Warrior, 10–13) goes past “say please and thank you” and into the harder ground: how to disagree with an adult without disrespect, how to speak to a girl properly, how to answer a teacher who is wrong, how to be polite when his friends are not, and how to keep his tone in check on a phone screen where no one can see his face.

Kato is older here, and so are his mistakes. Every chapter ends with write-in pages that make your son put his own answer on paper because at this age he will only own what he has said himself.

Politeness is not weakness. It is a boy learning to control the one thing he can always control.

This book is not meant to be read alone. Book your son a weekend session and let a trained facilitator take him through it.
