Unwanted follows one man's journey from the religious and political violence of Nigeria, through the long uncertainty of migration, to a life caught between two countries that never quite decide to want him. Woven through every page is the story of Vincent van Gogh: a man also cast out by his own people, whose work only found its audience after he was gone. Their two lives run side by side, verse by verse, as if rejection has always spoken the same language, in every country, in every century.
