6-Week Pre-Marital Counselling Programme

An Intensive Counselling Journey for Intending Couples Preparing for Marriage

Marriage is more than finding the right person.

It is learning how to build a life together.

Before you say “I do,” there are important conversations, expectations, decisions and personal issues that need to be addressed.

Many couples spend months preparing for their wedding day but very little time preparing for the marriage itself.

This 6-week intensive pre-marital counselling programme is designed to help intending couples slow down, ask the right questions, understand each other more deeply and build a stronger foundation for marriage.

Over six weeks, you and your partner will be guided through important areas of your relationship and future marriage in a safe, honest and structured counselling environment.

What We Will Cover

The programme covers a wide range of topics that every intending couple should seriously consider before marriage, including:

1. Understanding Yourself

Your personality, values, emotional needs, strengths, weaknesses, expectations and personal history.

2. Understanding Your Partner

Learning how your partner thinks, communicates, processes emotions and approaches important decisions.

3. Communication & Conflict Resolution

How to communicate effectively, handle disagreements, resolve conflicts and avoid unhealthy patterns.

4. Love, Emotional Connection & Friendship

Understanding how to maintain friendship, emotional intimacy and connection beyond the excitement of courtship.

5. Expectations About Marriage

Exploring your individual expectations about roles, responsibilities, companionship, lifestyle and what marriage means to each of you.

6. Finances & Money Management

Discussing income, spending, saving, debt, financial responsibilities, financial goals and how you intend to manage money together.

7. Family, In-Laws & Boundaries

Understanding family expectations, relationships with in-laws, healthy boundaries and how to protect your marriage while maintaining family relationships.

8. Sex, Intimacy & Affection

Having healthy and honest conversations about sexual expectations, intimacy, affection and maintaining connection within marriage.

9. Children & Parenting

Discussing whether you want children, parenting expectations, discipline, education and the kind of home you want to build.

10. Faith, Values & Beliefs

Exploring your spiritual beliefs, values, convictions and how they will influence your marriage and family life.

11. Career, Lifestyle & Future Plans

Discussing career ambitions, location, relocation, work-life balance, personal goals and the kind of life you want to build together.

12. Trust, Transparency & Emotional Safety

Understanding honesty, boundaries, accountability, vulnerability and what it means to create a marriage where both partners feel emotionally safe.

13. Deal-Breakers, Red Flags & Difficult Conversations

Creating space to discuss issues that couples often avoid because they are uncomfortable.

14. Building Your Marriage Plan

Bringing everything together and creating practical principles and commitments for your marriage.
