HUBBY AND WIFEY CHECKLIST - Questions You Must Answer Before You Say 'I Do'

There are questions we must ask in life before we hand the rest of our lives to an experience with someone else! Definitely, none of us wants to hand the rest of our entire lives to the ‘unknown’. We always want to have a clue to things and more so into mind-set of the person who will have the awesome privilege to craft our life's experiences. We use the ordinary example of a traveller; you do not board a plane to just any destination because you love the colour or design of the aircraft; you board a plane or take a trip with the destination paramount in your mind! This book will therefore ask questions and make sure you think deeply on issues that touch on the foundations of your future in marriage. We ask questions meant for him, her and both of you and guide your considerations where necessary.

In writing this book, we look at some core reasons why you need to read and appreciate it, indeed apply it. The first being that until you understand a person, even if they are God’s will for you, you may never come to appropriate the blessing that God made them to be for you. This is because all of every single spouse comes with their own imperfections. You must understand your God given partner from the perspective of what constitutes their strength, their weaknesses, what they are improving on or what you may have to basically put up with in areas that they may be deficient.

The other reason why this book is necessary is that sometimes, God rejects Saul and anoints David in relationships.[i] This is very tricky but this book will explain to you that when a person fails to make adjustments to fulfil God’s will and are resolute to stay outside his will, like Saul, God may give you David and ask that you let Saul go. The caveat we put on this is simple, we do not pick and drop relationships without consulting and hearing the voice of God. So that when a person ticks so much negative on your checklist, you ask God the John the Baptist question, ‘is S/He (still) the one or should I expect another?[ii] God will always be there to answer you.

We must however say that whilst this book is very important in helping you make a solid decision as to the right partner to settle with; no checklist on earth is exhaustive enough to certify that the future with any person is secure. We continue to teach that the foundation of marital security is the assurance we have in our hearts that a person represents God’s will for us and this can only be settled in the place of prayer and listening to the voice or guidance of God.

So, we urge you to read these checklists with the right perspective and get the best from this reading. God bless you!
