Thinking of growing Azolla but not sure how to set up the pond correctly?

This free visual quick-start guide from Kwaedza Farm walks you through the basic setup sequence — from leveling the ground and protecting the liner to adding soil, manure slurry, water and finally introducing your Azolla starter culture.

The guide is built around the same practical principles we use at Kwaedza Farm: shallow water, moderate shade, measured nutrients and daily observation. For our standard starter setup, we work with around 10–15 cm water depth, about 50% shade and 1 kg of starter culture.

It is especially useful for smallholder farmers who want to use Azolla as part of an integrated system for poultry, ducks, fish and other livestock. Azolla should be treated as a supplement, not a complete livestock ration.
