I was diagnosed with fibroids and told I needed urgent surgery. I had no family nearby, no book that spoke to my exact fear, and no one to tell me what the next few months would actually look like. So I built the guide I needed - and now I'm handing it to you.
If you've just heard the word fibroid - or you already have a surgery date circled on your calendar - you know the specific kind of fear that comes with it. Not the vague, general fear of surgery. The very particular fear of not knowing: what to ask, who to lean on, whether you'll wake up the same, whether anyone will actually tell you the truth before you're already on the table.
I lived that fear. I had multiple scans before anyone said the word "surgery." I called friend after friend, unsure who to even ask for help. I prayed against the diagnosis before I learned how to pray through it. And when I finally walked into that operating room, I did it on my own two feet, with my friends, family, well wishers, and my pastor's family, interceding in the next room, and one sentence on repeat in my mind: this is for my good.
Still Standing, Still Healing is the book I searched for and never found - so I wrote it myself, from the other side of that surgery.
This isn't written from a surgeon's chair. It's written from someone who sat exactly where you're sitting - who searched for this book and couldn't find it, so she built it herself, one honest chapter at a time.
You don't have to figure this out alone the way I did. I already built the map. All you have to do is turn the page. Remember, through this book, I am holding your hands through this phase of your life with love and support 🫂.
