OASIS OF SAFETY

The book, (The oasis of safety) is meant to motivate readers to see safety as a catalyst to the joy, peace, long life and prosperity we desire in life.  According to the International Labour Organization, there are around 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million victims of work-related illnesses annually. Apart from the Occupational related accidents, many lives are lost due to home related safety issues. The same thing happens in various fields of life. In some cases, we have the horrible experiences of permanent disability, heavy loss of properties, time, money, peace and harmony etc. The joy of many families has been cut short by many preventable safety related accidents that have occurred. Industries have been shut down after undesirable and unplanned safety issues that left them losing many lives of their workers with heavy property damage. In all, it is important to know that accidents do not just happen but are caused. Most of those accidents are also known to be preventable.

Permit me to reveal here that the global safety issues we have been experiencing in our world today are majorly caused by human behaviour. So, between safety (which guarantees freedom from injuries and ill-health) and hazards (that has the capacity to cause injuries, ill-health and dearth including unwarranted property damage) are THE HUMAN BEHAVIOUR. It is therefore very important that humanity should know that a deliberate decision to be of safe behavior will permanently put a check on the ugly incidents of deaths, permanent disability, property damage, fire accidents etc.

No wonder Irvin S. Cobb, declared  “I’ve personally met up with quite a few legless, armless and other badly messed-up folks. There’s a whole lot of mighty serious accident contemplation going on in our hospitals. My observations have taught me that it is much better to think about accidents before they happen than to brood on them afterward. … Personally, I’d rather be late for dinner tonight here than to be on time for breakfast in the next world in the morning. Haste makes waste of a lot of good human material." – Irvin S. Cobb.

Consequently, the reason for this book (The oasis of safety) is to raise in a strong term, Safety appears for all. Let’s embrace safety, love and cherish it for the good work it does, so as to enjoy our beautiful world, our loved ones, and different innovations that we have created, all with good health. I wish you the best that life and safety can give as you read through this book. Safety must remain our top priority.
