AWAKEN- A Youth Guide to Mental Health Literacy
AWAKEN is Nigeria’s first comprehensive youth mental health literacy guide, created to equip adolescents with the knowledge, language, and confidence to understand mental well-being and seek help safely.
While developed in Nigeria, AWAKEN is intentionally designed for use across African contexts, reflecting shared cultural realities such as stigma, limited access to care, strong community structures, and under-resourced school systems.
It is the foundational resource of the AWAKEN Ecosystem—a youth-led model that combines literacy, peer leadership, data, and policy advocacy to transform how mental health is understood in schools.
