ENERGY TRANSITION TRACKER TOOL (GLOBAL NORTH)

Tracking the energy transition is essential because the global energy landscape is transitioning to cleaner energy sources, to mitigate the effects of climate change and promote sustainable development, albeit the difference in the pace of the transition in the Global North and the Global South; given the varying dynamics prevalent in the respective countries in regions across the globe. Tracker tools help to monitor and evaluate progress, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate data-driven decision-making to support a successful and efficient energy transition. 

Electricity Lawyer has developed a tracker tool to monitor and assess the progress of countries in meeting their respective clean energy targets and energy transition goals. 

The renewable energy targets of the countries in the Global North can be tracked against each country's financial investments in fossil fuels, alongside the corresponding energy production/electricity generation from fossil fuels, in comparison with the corresponding investments in renewable energy and the attendant energy production/electricity generation from renewables, using the International Energy Agency (IEA) pathways as a benchmark.
