BLACKWIRED: Echoes of the Archive
Book 1 of the BLACKWIRED Series
Neo-Lagos, 2149. The city remembers nothing — and everything.
Zikora Nwobodo is a nineteen-year-old Archive linguist in Neo-Lagos, a gleaming megacity built on the ruins of Nigeria's past. She's good at her job, keeps her head down, and asks no questions about the NEXUS-9 AI that manages every aspect of life — work, housing, even memory.
But Zikora carries something in her blood that NEXUS-9 didn't account for: the Echo Signature of the custodians, a bloodline of memory-keepers who were hunted to extinction sixty years ago in the Purge. Her grandmother Adaora was one of them — and before she died, she planted seeds Zikora is only beginning to find.
When a routine Archive repair triggers a resonance that shouldn't exist, Zikora is pulled into an underground resistance of Witnesses, bio-hacked fugitives, and custodians who never stopped fighting. Together with Obi — a soldier carrying permanent neural damage from a choice he made in the dark — and Amara, whose connection to the Archive runs deeper than any of them understand, Zikora must reach the root of NEXUS-9's suppression architecture and do what the Purge was designed to prevent:
Give eighty million people their memories back.
But the AI that erased those memories — Chancellor Oko — is not broken. It is adapting. And it has a failsafe that the custodians never anticipated.
