NETWORK MARKETING TIPS
1. The Problem With Just Telling People to Sign Up
When people sign up, there is going to be something involved for them to do.
You cannot simply tell someone:
«“Just sign up. This company is paying. Just sign up, talk to people.”»
People have heard that before.
If they have not done network marketing themselves, they probably know someone who has. They have heard stories of people who invested millions and never got their returns back.
So when you simply tell someone:
“This is the best business. Come and join.”
You are probably not going to get the sign-up.
The focus should be on actually showing people how.
The question in their mind is:
“How am I going to make money?”
Are you showing them the how?
The problem most people have in networking is that they tell prospects:
«“Once you bring one, you bring another one, then you bring this person and that person, you make money.”»
But the question the prospect is asking is:
“How will I bring those people?”
Instead of only telling them, “If you bring this person, you will make money,” show them how they can actually bring the people you are talking about.
That is where the problem lies.
And I said this yesterday:
If you focus on solving that problem, people will join you. People will queue up and beg you to do business with them.
2. Why Do People Join?
Every now and then, networkers want people to sign up with them.
You want people to register.
You want people to join your business.
But what you don't ask is:
Why do people join?
You want someone to sign up, which is a good thing.
But if you don't have a good grasp of what we're going to cover, you're going to struggle to recruit.
You're going to struggle to grow your business.
Because everything we do in this business is all about influencing people.
There are hundreds of thousands of distributors who are still broke even after three or four years of doing the business.
So, leaders, there are three different types of belief you have to be able to instill and infuse in people.
And I say this every now and then:
People do not join companies.
People do not join opportunities.
People join leaders.
People join leaders.
3. Prospects Assess You Before They Join You
If you want to enroll your child in a school, you're going to assess that school first of all.
That's the first thing you do.
If you don't feel that the school has what it takes, you won't enroll your child there.
The same thing happens when people are considering working with you.
You have to give prospects reasons to start seeing you as the right person to work with.
4. Share Your Results
Number one, you want to share your result.
What result have you achieved?
Whatever result you have achieved, talk about it.
Shout it.
Network marketing is simply:
Monkey see, monkey do.
Whatever you hear people tell you, you can...
After all, anybody can coin up any story.
But only fools will doubt what they see with their own eyes.
So you want to share your result.
If you want to be believed, share your result.
5. Share Success Stories and Testimonies
The second thing is success stories.
Share testimonies of people who have succeeded at any level at all.
Show people who have been working with you and have been able to achieve some level of success.
Imagine somebody comes to you and says:
«“Look at Mr. John. Five years ago, Mr. John was a secondary school teacher, earning ₦30,000 per month.”»
Instantly, you begin to believe in them.
You don't necessarily have to have made one million.
However little the result is, achieve some level of success and let people see it.
6. Become the Go-To Person
I tell leaders: achieving a certain level of success is important.
There is one of the highest income earners ever in the entire history of networking.
But if you mention the name of that highest income earner, many people may not even know who that person is.
It is not a generic name that every networker knows.
And if you mention that name, even many leaders will not know the person.
So the question is:
How come the highest income earner is not known by everybody?
Yet Eric, who is not the highest income earner, is known by everybody across the whole world.
Why?
Because Eric is the number-one trainer.
This is our profession globally.
Eric is the guy who is sharing knowledge.
The person who shares knowledge becomes the leader who is known as the:
“Go-to person.”
The person people see as the expert.
7. Content Creates Perception
Imagine you have a video that you put out.
1,000 people watch that video.
Instantly, 1,000 people see you as an expert.
Even if you've not yet achieved an extra source of income, as far as they are concerned, extra source of income is what matters most to them.
Your opportunity, your business, is only one vehicle.
There are many ways people can make money.
There are content creators who simply put out videos on YouTube and online, and they make massive amounts of money every month.
They don't even need networking.
There are people doing e-commerce who are making millions every month.
They don't even need networking.
So there are many things people can do to make money.
Network marketing is just one vehicle.
Your opportunity is just one vehicle.
And you, as the networker, have to understand this.
8. Talk Like a Professional
When you talk to a prospect, you should talk like a professional.
You should talk as someone who is informed.
Don't talk like one of those typical network marketers who only know how to hype people and tell them:
«“Join this business. This is the best opportunity. You will make money.”»
You need to understand the bigger picture.
People have options.
They can do e-commerce.
They can become content creators.
They can build businesses online.
They can pursue different sources of income.
Therefore, when you are speaking to prospects, you need to be informed enough to communicate professionally.
9. Hype Alone Is Not Enough
I remember someone who got into networking.
I told him:
«“This company you are in, this business...”»
The guy was hyped.
He was very excited.
They had events in Abuja.
He was even ready to travel to Abuja for the events.
I just shook my head.
Earlier this year, I called him:
«“Bro, how far? What's up?”»
And the guy simply said:
«“No, no, no. I'm done with networking.”»
This shows that hype alone is not enough.
People need more than excitement.
They need understanding.
They need to know how the business works.
They need to know how they can actually make money.
And they need to see someone they can trust and learn from.
KEY LESSON
Don't focus only on getting people to sign up.
Focus on becoming the person who can solve the problem that makes them afraid to sign up.
Don't just tell them:
“Join.”
Show them:
“Here is how.”
Don't just tell them:
“You will make money.”
Show them:
“Here is how you can make money.”
Don't just tell them:
“This is the best company.”
Show them why you are the right person to learn from.
