For more than 25 years, I was married to a man everyone believed was the perfect husband.

He was charming.

He was respected.

He treated friends and visitors very well.

But behind closed doors, the reality of my marriage was very different.

He never hit me. Not physically anyway.

There were no bruises anyone could see.
