Most hospitals keep new mothers in for a few days after a C-section. Mine discharged me in under 24 hours. And somehow, you're still expected to just... manage.

If you're reading this at 2am with a baby beside you and no one else in the house or awake in the house, here's what I want you to know: what you're feeling right now is not weakness, and it's not something you should have prepared for better.

I wrote this guide because I lived it twice. The first two nights home, I was alone with my baby and terrified. My husband had to leave for work at 3am, and before he left, he'd prepare my pain medication in a small bowl of ice so I could reach it myself. My elder sister came for a few days. My niece stayed two weeks and helped me up out of bed every single time. Then, one by one, the help stopped.

With my second baby, nobody came at all.

This guide exists because help, when it comes, often comes in pieces, and sometimes it doesn't come at all. Neither means you were forgotten. It means you deserve a plan that doesn't depend on someone else remembering to show up.

WHAT'S INSIDE:

• The 3am Card, a tear-out emergency reference: what needs a doctor immediately, and what to do when it's fear, not danger

• What's Normal, What's Not, a clear line between ordinary C-section healing and real warning signs, for your body and your mind

• Day-by-Day Recovery, Day 1 through Week 6, so a frightening symptom becomes an expected one

• The Night-Alone Action Script, exactly what to do, in order, before panic takes over

• Who to Call & What to Say, the exact words for the calls that feel hardest to make

• The Visitors' Guide and Partner's Survival Guide, practical pages for the people around you

• Fillable trackers: night feeding & medication, pain levels, and emergency contacts

• A Word of Faith, scripture and a prayer for the nights a plan isn't enough

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

You're pregnant and want to prepare before the help fades. You're in the thick of it right now and support has already thinned out. This isn't your first baby, and you sense it'll look different this time. You've felt alone in this and wondered if anyone else understands.

This guide is a companion alongside your medical care, not a replacement for it. It will always tell you plainly when to call a doctor.

You are not behind. You are not failing. You are recovering, and that is enough for right now.
