ABOUT THE BOOK

‘I Remember: The Nigerian-Biafran War - Graphic Recollections Of A Child’ tells the story of this horrible chapter in Nigeria’s history. It is an adult story captured in the uncommon memories of a precocious child.

The author was about six years old when the scorching war broke out between the federal forces and the breakaway Republic of Biafra. That war was evil personified; all manner of savagery was unleashed on the people, especially the Igbos. It was as a result of this mass killing that the Igbos seceded because they felt that the safest step to take was to have their own country, Biafra.

However, against all expectations, the war brought more pain and worse sorrow to the people, resulting in the death of over three million people. The author of this book, though a child experienced the atrocious bestiality of man raw. But he was not broken by them. Rather, he has been inspired to chronicle his experiences during the war with the aim to convince his readers that there must always be alternative ways to resolve conflicts without needless bloodshed.
