Fashion contracts are legal documents and tools that shape how value is shared, how creative control is decided, and how business risk is handled. In many African fashion markets, professional relationships often begin through trust, community ties, or reputation rather than written records. These relationship-based systems are important and meaningful. However, as businesses grow, seek investment, or operate across borders, they need agreements that are clear, enforceable, and capable of supporting expansion.
This track introduces the contractual structures that underpin fashion businesses working within complex, informal, and evolving regulatory environments. It develops the ability to recognise, interpret, structure, and negotiate agreements that reflect real industry conditions while protecting both commercial and creative interests.
The learning approach is practical. Through scenario-based exercises, engagement with real contractual language, and analytical discussion, participants build a strategic understanding of how contracts function across the fashion value chain.
