Born to Rule: Discovering Your Identity and Authority as a King in Christ

When you first hear or read the theme “Born to Rule: Discovering Your Identity and Authority as a King in Christ,” you might wonder: which king are you? An earthly king? A heavenly one? The truth is, you are meant to be king in both realms.

From the beginning God spoke about human authority. Genesis 1:26–30 teaches that God made humanity in His image and gave them dominion over the earth: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over all the earth and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image male and female and blessed them: “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion….” He gave humanity provision and responsibility: every seed-bearing plant and every fruit tree was provided for food, and green plants were given for the animals (Genesis 1:29–30).
