Understanding times and seasons is a principal subject for all who walk with God, for the plans and purposes of God on the earth unfold within the framework of divinely appointed times and seasons.
In our personal lives, times and seasons play a vital role. To truly understand this truth is to maximize our stewardship of time, the divine gift given to everyone on earth. The Psalmist captures this in his prayer: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Ps. 90:12).
The art of numbering our days goes far beyond marking and celebrating birthdays — as meaningful as those may be. For many, birthdays have become mere events for celebrating life rather than discerning its progression. Yet, we cannot truly number our days without understanding times and seasons. As the Preacher declared, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Eccl. 3:1).
Numbering our days requires spiritual discernment; the ability to recognize seasons and their divine appointments, purposes and their appointed times, and the prophetic ordinations that govern both personal and corporate destinies, as well as the prophetic timelines of nations.
Like the tribe of Issachar, those who understand times and seasons become leaders in their generation (1 Chron. 12:32). Such understanding positions you to stay ahead of the curve and to guide others with divine insight. Those who discern the times are, in a sense, the prophets of the future — not only interpreting the present through the lens of the past but also foretelling what is to come and preparing men for it.
This book is an eye-opener. It lays a spiritual foundation for your journey into prophetic understanding, equipping you to become a leader in your generation through your mastery of times and seasons.
