ZION'S CHILDREN

Zion's Children is an African family drama that deconstructs the many layers in which land dispossession, under the guise of culturalism and through abuse of power, affects famillies, subjecting them to generational trauma. The surviving widow and children of the Mwela family find themselves prey to a predatory in-law following the death of the head of the household before his time. Subjected victimization by the barbaric use of cultural conventions, the Mwela women with the aid of long standing friends of the daughters turn to unconventional means to reclaim what was theirs, and restore their family legacy. Cultural land theft is a widespread affliction within African societies, and Zion's Children lays the consequences of it with full clarity.
