Building Confident Readers — One CrackABLE Sentence at a Time

Welcome to CrackABLE Sentences, a carefully structured early-reading resource designed to help children move from decoding individual words to reading short sentences with increasing confidence, accuracy and understanding.

CrackABLE Sentences uses simple phonics patterns such as CVC, CVCC and other progressively challenging word structures to give young readers repeated opportunities to practise the skills they are learning.

Each page contains six short, readable sentences, a supporting black-and-white picture and a simple “How I Did” section. This allows children to practise reading, think about meaning and reflect on their own performance.

The aim is not simply to help children say the words.

The aim is to help them become children who can look at print, work out unfamiliar words, read sentences fluently and understand what they have read.
