You Can't Trade Your Way Out of Debt. I Tried.

I owed over $8,000 to friends, family, and loan apps. Every instinct told me one good trade would fix it. It never did. Here's the plan that actually got me out, and it had nothing to do with trading.

THE PROBLEM

Tick the ones that hit:

  • ☐ You've told yourself one good trade would fix most of what you owe
  • ☐ You've borrowed from a new source to try again after a loss
  • ☐ You've avoided calls or messages from someone you owe money to
  • ☐ You don't have a written plan for how or when your debts actually get paid
  • ☐ Trading is currently your only source of income

If you ticked two or more, the debt isn't the real problem. The plan you don't have yet is.

I started trading in 2021 without proper knowledge, moving fast, learning as I went. On top of that, I lost a serious amount to bot trading, automated systems I trusted to do what I couldn't do yet.

They didn't. The debt piled up some to friends and family, some to loan apps, the kind that call your contacts when you're late.

Every time I lost more, the instinct was the same: trade it back. One good trade would fix this. So I'd borrow a little more and go again.

It never fixed it. Trading to escape a debt is just revenge trading wearing a different name.

What actually got me out wasn't a trade. It was stopping.

I took a 6-month break from trading completely. I found a job that paid consistently. I got a Forex mentor who stayed with me through the entire process not just teaching strategy, but holding me to the plan on the weeks I wanted to quit. I told everyone I owed money exactly where things stood, and asked for time. I built a repayment plan I could actually follow.

I'm now completely free of that debt. I trade full-time, with steady payouts, and I've since trained profitable traders myself.
