ECONOMICS OF EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL PLANNING

The economics of education is the most fundamental activity in planning an education system that meets a country's societal goals. It deals with the allocation of scarce resources—deciding how best to distribute them among various levels of education (pre-primary, primary, secondary, tertiary, technical and vocational). It addresses issues of regional equity, ensuring that learners in all 47 counties have access to quality education regardless of their location, whether in Nairobi or Turkana. It focuses on achieving efficiency in the deployment of teaching and human resources, minimizing wastage from dropout and repetition, and maximizing learning outcomes for every shilling spent.
