Track 6 of the African Fashion Law Foundations Programme is built on a single premise: that understanding supply chain regulation is not optional for anyone working in African fashion, as a lawyer, a brand owner, a manufacturer, a regulator, a development finance professional, or a sustainability practitioner. It is the legal infrastructure on which the industry operates. Getting it wrong is expensive; getting it right is a source of competitive advantage that distinguishes the businesses that thrive in an increasingly regulated global fashion market from those that do not.
This Track maps this landscape comprehensively, from the legal structure of AfCFTA trade rules and the technical demands of AGOA origin compliance, to the design of grievance mechanisms that satisfy CSDDD's mandatory requirements, to the architecture of remediation programmes that address supply chain harms at the standard civil liability law now demands.
