THE TRUE IDENTITY OF A CHRISTIAN
One of the major problems faced by the large community of believers is the identity crisis. We don't know who we are. Of course, we could identify ourselves based on our states, country, ethnicity, race, position, status, gender and what have you but the real identity of who is a Christian is lost. We walk and live in ignorance of who we really are in Christ Jesus and what he has done for us.
It is not uncommon to hear a Christian saying I am a sinner saved by grace. That sounds familiar but it is not true. I was a sinner saved by grace but now I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. There is a major difference there I feel uncomfortable hearing things like this in our meetings in Churches and while counselling people. This has to be corrected. We must come into full knowledge of who we are in Christ Jesus.
There is a lot of depression in the land. Many Christians are going through depression, many are having suicidal thoughts, in fact many supposed Christian have taken their own lives because of what somebody did or said to them that did not go down well with them. Some are nursing hurts for years because of abuse they experienced during childhood to the extent that Christian ends up in psychological trauma. These ought not to be if only Christian knows who they are.
When you don't understand who you are, it will affect your relationship with God. The way you see Him will determine how and what you receive from Him. It will also affect the way you treat other people. You will give them what they deserve because you think that God gives you what you deserve and deals with you based on your performance. Lastly, it will affect you. You will carry it around the identity you think of yourself and as the book of proverbs says as a man thinks in his heart so is he. Your assumed identity will affect your character, habit, emotions, feelings and eventually your destiny.
This book is written to answer these anomalies and brings us to a place where we know who God has made us to be and can properly address ourselves in such a manner. This will enable us to receive our inheritance in Christ Jesus. Understanding who we are in Christ Jesus is pivotal to living a successful and victorious Christian life without which life will be meaningless, full of sorrow, backward and regretful.
Words are powerful, they can break bones as book of proverbs tells us but if anyone speak anything to you and you become aggrieved and disturbed, I tell you it's because you either don't know what God has spoken to and about you or you place so much value on their opinion rather than on God's opinion. This book is put together to let you know the value God has placed on you and who He has called you. The book is for you.
