Selah. An ancient word that means: pause, let the music swell, and calmly think about that.
In a fast-paced world, this is a book that asks you to stop. It invites you to look back at the intersections of your own history and marvel at how God's grace builds our lives.
In this deeply moving and honest memoir, Martha Kure pulls back the curtain on a life shaped by the changing cultural and political landscapes of early Northern Nigeria. From the dusty, hopeful streets of 1964 Kaduna to the frontlines of global leadership, Selah is the story of a woman completely anchored to the cross.
Her journey begins in a world you can almost touch. It was an era when schools used the "Ear Test"—asking a child to reach over their head to touch their opposite ear just to see if they were ready to learn. It was a time when a desperate father drank bitter traditional medicine before he ever felt the healing touch of God. From an older brother's early morning walks to fetch bread, to a mother's humble potato table on Ilorin Road, these hard lessons broke childhood rebellion and prepared the ground for a strong life of faith.
But Selah is more than just a life story. It is living, breathing proof that when the world grades you as a failure, God's covenant writes a different script.
This is the story of how ordinary, hard discipline shapes an extraordinary faith. It shows how a girl from Kaduna became a pastor, a mother to many, and the
Visionary Lead of Women in God's Prophetic Alliance. Above all, it is about the God who was writing the story the whole time, in the pauses no one else could read.
