Principal, Merging Ecologies Studios. Lecturer, SUNY, Cortland, NY, USA.
Course Description
This course offers an in-depth exploration of Rammed Earth Technology, a sustainable building method that has been utilized for centuries. Students will learn about the materials, construction techniques, and architectural possibilities associated with rammed earth, as well as its environmental benefits and challenges. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and access to contemporary rammed earth buildings, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to incorporate rammed earth into contemporary construction projects.
Course Objective
The course Fundamentals in Rammed Earth Buildings allows students to gain a comprehensive understanding of rammed earth construction. They will learn about its history, the materials and methods used, and its environmental advantages. Additionally, students will be able to incorporate earth technology into their designs using this technology, assess modern rammed earth structures, and practically apply their knowledge by creating rammed earth samples and constructions.
