Sometimes in life, people can be blessed with a curse, and other people cursed with a blessing. Knowing where one belongs in this arrangement can help a person understand his purpose in the world and live accordingly.

Sadly however, some people remain stuck at the center, trying to find where they belong, and while some may find it in this lifetime, others can die trying. Okorie Mba belongs to the stuck, and will not rest until he takes a side.

Coming into the world with a rare medical condition known today as insomnia, Okorie began to see himself as different from most people at a tender age and sought solution into adulthood.

His refusal to sleep at nights wasn't a factor of inability to sleep at those times, but because something haunted his sleep at nights, and the object of mare was a masculine figure in a masquerade costume.

Unable to solve this problem, he adapts to his nature and finds himself useful at wrestling events and battlegrounds, where his weight was felt in mass. Unfortunately after losing to Ndukwe at a wrestling contest held at Elu, depression set in and further led him down the path of other psychological problems.

In his bad days, the village which he had lived and fought for, surprisingly didn't seem to express a lot of concern about his welfare. Not until war came knocking and his presence at the warfront was desired again as usual.

If he participates in the war and gets victory, will he be fulfilled ?

Man in the masquerade is an unconventional epic historical fiction which captures the living experience of a time that can date back to 700 years. Its setting is within a West African clan known as Mben, which is situated south of the present day Nigeria.
