About the Book

Parenting is an incredible journey, one that comes with immense joy and its fair share of challenges. Yet, amid the daily demands and responsibilities, parents often find themselves putting their own needs last. "Self-Care for Parents: Why You Can't Pour from an Empty Cup" is a compassionate and practical guide designed to help parents understand the critical importance of self-care, and how it is not just a luxury but a necessity.

I had a leading to write this book based on my experiences as a father and a marriage counsellor. I have met with parents who are on the brink of marital breakdown and disunity. After several sessions, we uncover stress related situations usually associated with attempts at achieving the smooth-running of the home. The parents seem to neglect themselves while putting the children’s needs at the forefront. They no longer do the things they did while dating. They do not take care of their mental, emotional and spiritual needs. It is always all about the kids.

This book is more than just a guide; it's a lifeline for parents striving to balance the demands of parenting with the necessity of self-care. Through practical advice, heartfelt stories, and invaluable resources, this book empowers parents to create a sustainable self-care routine, ultimately enhancing their ability to nurture and care for their families with love, energy, and vitality.
