Most abandoned-cart tools either need a separate email service or just quietly stop working once you close the tab. Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce captures the cart the moment someone types their email at checkout — guest or logged-in — and follows up with a real three-email sequence sent by your own site’s WP-Cron, including an auto-generated one-time discount coupon. No external service, no API keys, no subscription.

What’s included

  • 🛒 Real-time cart capture — carts are saved as soon as items are added, and the customer’s email is captured the moment they type it at checkout, even if they never click “Place order.” Recovery isn’t limited to accounts that were already logged in.
  • 📧 3-stage email sequence — a configurable reminder, a discount nudge, and a final urgency email, each with its own delay (hours after abandonment) and subject line, all editable from Settings.
  • 🎟 Auto-generated coupons — stage two can automatically create a real WooCommerce coupon, restricted to that exact customer’s email, single-use, with a configurable percentage and expiry window — not a fake “10% off” banner, an actual redeemable code.
  • ✅ Automatic recovery detection — the moment an order completes, that cart is marked recovered and drops out of the sequence, so customers who already checked out never get a needless “did you forget something?” email.
  • ⚙️ Runs itself — a WP-Cron job checks the recovery queue every 15 minutes and sends whatever’s due. Set it up once and leave it running.

How it compares

  • Monthly cost: Typical cart-recovery tools — Often a recurring SaaS subscription, sometimes usage-based; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — One-time price, yours to keep
  • Email sending service: Typical cart-recovery tools — Usually requires a connected third-party ESP; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — Sends via your own site’s WordPress mail — no external account
  • Guest checkout capture: Typical cart-recovery tools — Inconsistent — many only catch logged-in users; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — Captures the email as soon as it’s typed at checkout, guest or not
  • Discount coupons: Typical cart-recovery tools — Often a static “10% off” link, easily reused by anyone; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — Real WooCommerce coupon, single-use and locked to that customer’s email
  • Recovered-order detection: Typical cart-recovery tools — Sometimes delayed or manual; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — Automatic, the moment the order completes
  • Third-party accounts / API keys: Typical cart-recovery tools — Commonly required; Abandoned Cart Recovery for WooCommerce — None — fully self-contained

Frequently asked questions

Does this work for guest checkouts, or only logged-in customers?

Both. The email is captured the moment it’s typed into the checkout email field, so guest carts are recoverable too.

Will customers get emailed after they’ve already completed their order?

No — the moment an order completes, that cart is automatically marked recovered and removed from the queue.

Do I need Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or another email service?

No. Emails are sent through your own WordPress site using wp_mail(), the same system your order confirmation emails already use.

Can I control how many emails are sent and when?

Yes — delays, subject lines, coupon percentage, coupon expiry, and the maximum number of attempts per cart are all configurable from Settings.

Honesty note

This plugin does not currently check for or install updates automatically — you’ll receive the plugin files directly. It requires WooCommerce to be active, and email deliverability depends on your site’s outgoing mail setup — like any WordPress plugin sending mail through wp_mail(), results are best with a proper SMTP connection rather than your host’s default mail function.
