The Bag Goddess 3-Month Intensive Bag Making Training is a practical, hands-on programme designed to take you from the fundamentals of bag making to confidently creating different styles of bags from scratch.

This is not just a class where you learn to replicate one or two designs.

You’ll learn the principles behind bag construction, pattern development, material selection, sewing and finishing, so you can apply what you learn to different bag styles and eventually develop your own designs.

• Hobo bag construction
• Pattern development
• Structure and finishing
• Handles, straps and detailing

STRUCTURED BAGS

• Understanding bag structure
• Interfacing and reinforcement
• Creating clean shapes
• Installing different components
• Professional finishing techniques

UNSTRUCTURED BAGS

• Understanding soft bag construction
• Working with flexible materials
• Creating shape without rigid structure
• Clean and durable finishing

PATTERN MAKING

A major part of the training will focus on understanding how bag patterns work.

You’ll learn how to:

• Create patterns from scratch
• Understand bag measurements
• Develop and modify existing patterns
• Add depth and volume
• Create pockets and compartments
• Adjust designs and dimensions
• Turn your ideas into workable bag patterns

MATERIALS & TOOLS

You’ll also learn how to identify and work with different bag-making materials, including:

• Faux leather and leather
• Canvas and fabric
• Linings
• Interfacing and stabilizers
• Zippers and other hardware
• Handles and straps
• Adhesives and other bag-making materials

We’ll discuss how to choose the right materials for different types of bags, where to source them and how the choice of material affects the final result.

SEWING & FINISHING

You’ll learn how to get cleaner, more professional results through proper:

• Cutting
• Sewing techniques
• Seam finishing
• Edge finishing
• Hardware installation
• Lining
• Zipper installation
• Pocket construction
• Handle attachment
• Bag assembly

And most importantly, you’ll learn how to make the most out of the sewing machine you already have.
