Victor Nathel Case Study

How Victor Nathel Made Over ₦20 Million in a Month on Selar Through Affiliate Marketing and Course Creation

In 2025, Victor Nathel generated upwards of ₦20 million on Selar through affiliate marketing and course creation, reaching students across 14 different countries. Pretty interesting, considering that he once painted houses just to make ends meet.

We spoke with him to document his story and the exact strategies that brought him from hours swiping paintbrushes across walls and ceilings to earning tens of millions monthly with Selar.

How Victor Got into Affiliate Marketing and Course Creation

The Struggle Before Success

Unlike some others, Victor’s journey didn’t start with certainty or privilege.

After graduating from the University of Benin in 2018 with a degree in Political Science Education, he found himself in a difficult position. His father had passed away while he was still in school, leaving his retired mother to handle all expenses alone.

“I lost my dad when I was still in school. So only mom [was] paying school fees and everything. I didn’t even know I would graduate […] because finances were just cut off.”

To support himself, Victor turned to painting, a skill he learned from his elder brother in 2015 and for years, he kept at it, earning money through physical labor while searching for something more.

The Turning Point

In 2021, affiliate marketing adverts started appearing on Victor’s social media feeds, but skepticism held him back. However, it’s a little difficult to remain skeptical when someone you know posts about earning  ₦100,000 weekly through affiliate marketing.

Needless to say, after Victor saw that post from his friend, he took action.

In January 2022, Victor took his first affiliate marketing training course, completing it in two weeks. Shortly after, he made his first few sales and never looked back.

Growth and Evolution

Later in the year, he compared earnings from both ventures and when affiliate marketing outclassed painting, he decided to stop it to focus entirely on being an affiliate.

That turned out to be a great call, as he made up to ₦6 million as an affiliate before ever creating his own product.

A few things contributed to this but some of the most noteworthy ones were VSLs (video sales letters), webinars and one-on-one closing calls, despite the scaling difficulty there.

In the end, he’d made so much progress that the community of students he mentored on affiliate marketing began pushing him to launch his own course. And so he did.

Victor’s Challenges Before Selar

One of Victor’s biggest challenges was payment flexibility.

Before Selar, Victor used another affiliate platform that only allowed withdrawals on Fridays. While this might not seem that much of a big deal, it’s a major bottleneck when you regularly run ads.

If he wanted to run a ₦50,000 weekly ad campaign and had that much in his dashboard, he could withdraw the full amount on Friday and launch his ads.

But if his ads were performing well and he wanted to scale up mid-week, he couldn’t do it, as he’d have to wait until the next Friday to access new earnings and reinvest them.

This rigid withdrawal schedule meant he was constantly missing opportunities to capitalize on winning ad campaigns when they were hot.

There was also the challenge of needing a place to host his course materials without having to build a site from scratch as well as scaling his income, especially since he did a lot of one-on-one closing with prospects.

The Selar Solution and Why it’s a Great Tool for Victor

After putting together his course materials with no place to host and facing withdrawal challenges with his previous affiliate marketing platform, Victor got introduced to Selar by a friend. That was in 2023 and since then, he’s enjoyed three key features that make Selar indispensable for his business:

1. Payment Flexibility

Unlike his previous platform, Selar allows Victor to withdraw his earnings at any time. This was crucial for his advertising strategy.

“The first thing that attracted me to Selar was the flexibility in payments. I can actually make money on Monday, withdraw it on Tuesday, make money on Tuesday, withdraw it on Wednesday. And I was like, wow, this is cool.”

This flexibility meant he could reinvest in ads immediately, scaling his campaigns without waiting for specific withdrawal windows.

2. All-in-One Hosting Solution

Selar provided both the storefront and the hosting infrastructure Victor needed. He didn’t have to build external websites or worry about technical integration. All he had to do was create his course and upload it to Selar.

3. Seamless User Experience

His students found the platform easy to navigate, and Victor proactively addressed any potential confusion by creating a simple guide for course access.

“Immediately you are receiving an email from Selar, you are getting a message from me or from any of my affiliates telling you how to access nt training. It gives you guidance until you’ve started watching the first video.”

This feature directly addresses the scalability issue he’d faced earlier when he spent a lot of time answering questions on one-on-one closing calls.

Victor notes that in nearly two years of using Selar, there hasn’t been a single day without a sale on the platform, a testament to both his marketing efforts and the platform’s reliability.

How Victor Hit ₦20 million in Sales on Selar

Strategic Webinars With Irresistible Offers

Victor’s primary sales driver is his webinar strategy. For context, one of his more recent webinars at the time of writing this attracted over 2,000 attendees and generated ₦1.4 million in a single night.

In webinars like that, he offers discounts strategically and pairs them with a narrative that reduces friction in the decision-making process.

For instance, instead of simply mentioning that he’s offering an x% discount, he’d explain that he’s gotten several requests for one and it’s the reason he’s moving forward with it.

While there are multiple different approaches to this, the overall idea is to justify his classes, webinars, and make people less skeptical about a purchase.

Scarcity and Urgency

Victor also uses deadlines religiously to create urgency around his offers.

“I always like working with specific dates. Some people are scared of doing it, but this is marketing. When you’re marketing, if you say this thing is on a discount, give a date.”

His tiered urgency approach is particularly effective:

  • “First 10 people to pay get this extra e-book worth ₦15,000”
  • “First 15 people get a one-on-one video call with me”
  • “This discount is for everyone for one week, but if you pay by midnight tonight, you get an additional discount”

The promise of personal interaction, especially one-on-one video calls, generates massive excitement and conversions.

Omnipresent Link Placement

“I made sure I’ve placed my affiliate link on all social media platforms. Whether it’s on Twitter, on Instagram, or on TikTok, you must see a link to my VSL, my automation course, and my landing page.”

This omnipresence means people who have been following his educational content can convert the moment they’re ready, no matter where they are on the web.

Repositioning From Affiliate Marketing to Making Money Online

Rather than directly promoting affiliate marketing, Victor shifted his messaging to focus on the broader appeal of making money online.

“I stopped posting about affiliate marketing so much. I started posting about making money online. So people will naturally come to me and tell me they want to make money online without hearing me say this or that.”

This approach allows him to recommend products based on individual needs rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all solution. For someone interested in writing, he’ll recommend a copywriting course. For someone interested in trading, he’ll recommend a forex program and so on.

Strategic Ad Spend

Victor invests heavily in Facebook advertising. His typical ad budget ranges from ₦50,000 to ₦120,000 daily, sometimes reaching ₦400,000 weekly.

As for his return on ad spend, “Currently, I make at least ₦2.7 million to ₦3 million every single week from affiliate marketing. Yesterday I made over ₦370,000. Today I’ve done over [₦300,000]. Two days ago I also did over ₦300,000.”

Platform Pivot: WhatsApp to Telegram

When WhatsApp bans became a persistent issue for creators looking to build profitable communities, Victor adapted. He completely switched his operations to Telegram and even created a course teaching others how to do the same.

This adaptability has been crucial to maintaining his income streams.

Interestingly, with Selar’s new Telegram integration, other creators can easily build thriving communities without having to worry about the daily hassle of managing one.

Victor’s Setbacks and Solutions While Promoting His Products

Victor’s biggest challenge has ironically been managing his growing popularity.

People are constantly using his name and face across TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms to scam unsuspecting victims. His team actively works to take down fraudulent accounts, but new ones appear regularly.

Despite this challenge, Victor remains focused on building legitimate value and educating his community about how to verify his official channels.

G.R.O.W.N Academy (Get Rich Online With Nathel) was founded in 2023 and is now a government-approved, registered institution for digital skills acquisition.

Victor’s mission is clear: “Our main goal is to bring people out of this mindset of you must do evil to make money or you must do scam to make money. So I’m trying to win people into legitimate work.”

Victor’s Advice to Aspiring Affiliate Marketers and Course Creators?

Victor’s advice is grounded in his personal journey from skepticism to success:

1. Follow and Learn From Top Performers

“There is no pride in following the top affiliates. I did it. I tried to follow as many affiliates as I could, try to learn from them, copy strategies, try to do some of the things they do.”

2. Embrace Mistakes Early

“I love making mistakes early so that I can learn on time. I remember losing a lot of money to my ad accounts. I’m grateful I did, because I learned how not to do it.”

3. Find What Works Best for You

Experiment with different strategies — webinars, VSLs, one-on-one closing, group chats — and identify which generates the best results for your personality and audience.

4. Focus on Quality Prospects

Victor advises prioritizing serious-minded prospects who are ready to buy rather than getting caught up in endless conversations that might not lead anywhere tangible eventually.
