New Feature: Set Purchase Limits for Your One-Time Access Products

As a creator or digital seller, you want to be in control of how your products are accessed, especially when you’re offering items that are meant to be purchased just once.

That is why we’ve created a feature that lets you limit product purchase per email.

This new feature prevents customers from buying the same product more than once using one email address, and it works across all product types, from courses to ebooks to tickets and everything else in between. 

What are the Benefits of Setting Purchase Limits on One-Time Access Products?

We built this to protect your time, your content, and your customer experience. One-time access should mean exactly that, and now, it finally does.

  • No more duplicate purchases: Customers can’t “accidentally” buy the same product twice with the same email; it’s automatically blocked. Less confusion for them and less time fixing support tickets.
  • Prevent abuse of one-time offers and access: Keeps one-time products truly one-time. Stops users from gaming your system for extra access.
  • More control over how your products are consumed: You decide how your product is accessed, and Selar enforces it for you, without extra tools.

How to Enable This Feature

With just one setting, protect your products and streamline your customer experience.

Step 1: Go to the product edit/create page

Step 2: Open the Advanced Options tab and tick “Enable this restriction” under the section that says “limit product purchase per email”

Step 3: Click Update Product

Once enabled, Selar will automatically block repeat purchases using the same email address, helping you reduce duplicate orders and protect your product access.

Use Case: Protecting a License Key Product

Let’s say you sell a design software license key for ₦10,000. This product should only be purchased once per customer. Without this feature, someone could buy the license key multiple times using the same email, either intentionally or by mistake, costing you more time, money, and support effort.

By enabling “Limit Product Purchase Per Email,” Selar blocks any second purchase attempt using that same email. It’s a simple step that protects your product, keeps delivery clean, and ensures fair use across your customer base.
