From\u200e a\u200e cloud engineer\u200e to\u200e a\u200e digital\u200e creator.\u200e Could\u200e you\u200e share\u200e with\u200e us\u200e how\u200e the\u200e journey\u200e was\u200e for\u200e you?\u200e What\u200e motivated\u200e you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063At\u200e the\u200e start\u200e of\u200e my\u200e career\u200e as\u200e a\u200e cloud\u200e engineer\u200e,\u200e it\u200e was\u200e a\u200e little\u200e bit\u200e difficult\u200e navigating\u200e that terrain. My industry comes with its fair share of challenges\u200e so I\u200e decided to\u200e write\u200e a\u200e book\u200e about\u200e all\u200e of\u200e that\u200e someday\u200e even\u200e though\u200e I\u200e didn\u2019t\u200e take\u200e it\u200e seriously\u200e back\u200e then.\u200e <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After\u200e over two\u200e years\u200e of\u200e being\u200e a\u200e cloud\u200e engineer,\u200e I\u200e finally felt I\u200e was knowledgeable\u200e enough about\u200e it\u200e and\u200e I\u200e could put\u200e the\u200e things\u200e I\u200e knew into\u200e writing\u200e for\u200e people\u200e that\u200e want\u200e to\u200e venture\u200e into\u200e cloud\u200e engineering. \u2063I\u200e just\u200e wanted to\u200e simplify\u200e cloud\u200e engineering\u200e for\u200e beginners.\u200e <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I stalled for a bit though and tried\u200e shaking\u200e off\u200e the\u200e thought\u200e \u200eat\u200e some\u200e point\u200e but\u200e it\u200e kept\u200e coming\u200e back\u200e so\u200e I\u200e decided to\u200e give\u200e it\u200e a\u200e try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063\u2063What\u200e advice\u200e would\u200e you\u200e give\u200e a\u200e tech\u200e bro\/sis\u200e who\u200e is\u200e highly\u200e skilled\u200e and\u200e is\u200e looking\u200e to\u200e start\u200e their\u200e own\u200e digital\u200e creation\u200e journey?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063I\u200e won\u2019t\u200e tell\u200e them\u200e to\u200e go\u200e for\u200e it\u200e or\u200e just\u200e do\u200e it\u200e because\u200e it\u200e doesn\u2019t\u200e really\u200e apply\u200e to\u200e everybody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063I\u200e would\u200e say\u200e that\u200e you\u200e should\u200e know\u200e and\u200e understand\u200e yourself because\u200e not\u200e everyone\u200e would\u200e write\u200e a\u200e book\u200e, and\u200e that is\u200e fine.\u200e n\u200e the\u200e other\u200e hand,\u200e some\u200e people\u200e are\u200e long\u200e overdue\u200e to\u200e write\u200e their\u200e ebooks\u200e and\u200e put\u200e out\u200e their\u200e digital\u200e products.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063If\u200e you\u200e know\u200e you\u200e are\u200e highly\u200e knowledgeable\u200e and\u200e \u200eyou\u200e can\u200e offer\u200e value,\u200e and\u200e it\u200e is\u200e something\u200e you\u200e can\u200e balance\u200e with\u200e your\u200e actual\u200e work,\u200e why\u200e not?\u200e You\u200e should\u200e definitely\u200e go\u200e for\u200e it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063Make\u200e your\u200e research,\u200e reach\u200e out\u200e to\u200e colleagues,\u200e friends\u200e, and\u200e mentors\u200e to\u200e help\u200e you\u200e go\u200e through\u200e the\u200e book to make sure you are not putting out something shabby. ost\u200e importantly,\u200e you\u200e should\u200e put\u200e yourself\u200e out\u200e there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063When\u200e I\u200e wanted\u200e to\u200e write\u200e my\u200e ebook,\u200e I\u200e reached\u200e out\u200e to\u200e mentors,\u200e friends\u200e who\u200e were\u200e already\u200e digital\u200e creators\u200e, and\u200e colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063I\u200e had\u200e people\u200e who\u200e encouraged\u200e me and\u200e also\u200e people\u200e who\u200e discouraged\u200e me.\u200e I\u200e chose\u200e to\u200e lean\u200e to\u200e the\u200e people\u200e who\u200e encouraged\u200e me\u200e to\u200e go\u200e for\u200e it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063If\u200e they\u200e buy\u200e it,\u200e it\u2019s\u200e their\u200e business\u200e and\u200e if\u200e they\u200e don\u2019t,\u200e it\u2019s\u200e still\u200e their\u200e business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u200e would\u200e say\u200e that\u200e making\u200e YouTube\u200e videos\u200e are\u200e easier\u200e for\u200e me\u200e unlike writing a book. Writing a book was completely new territory for me and it took me a few months to complete it. I\u200e think\u200e the\u200e hardest\u200e part\u200e about writing\u200e a\u200e book\u200e is\u200e writing\u200e the\u200e first\u200e one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063I\u200e\u2019m glad I\u200e have\u200e written\u200e the\u200e first\u200e one\u200e and\u200e I\u200e\u2019m aware that I’ve made\u200e a\u200e few mistakes along the process.\u200e I\u200e have\u200e learned\u200e from\u200e those mistakes and\u200e I\u2019m\u200e certainly not going\u200e to\u200e repeat them\u200e.\u200e I believe that when writing my second\u200e book if\u200e there’ll be a second one,\u200e it\u200e would\u200e be\u200e easier\u200e than\u200e the\u200e first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2063I\u200e made\u200e myself\u200e visible.\u200e I\u200e was\u200e talking\u200e about\u200e cloud\u200e computing\u200e everywhere\u200e I\u200e had\u200e the\u200e opportunity\u200e to.\u200e I\u200e already\u200e made\u200e myself\u200e an\u200e authority\u200e before\u200e publishing\u200e the\u200e book.\u200e I\u200e didn\u2019t\u200e just\u200e put\u200e the\u200e book\u200e out\u200e as\u200e a new\u200e face.\u200e A\u200e lot\u200e of\u200e people\u200e already\u200e knew\u200e and\u200e trusted\u200e me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u200e also\u200e reached\u200e out to\u200e two\u200e different\u200e types\u200e of\u200e editors.\u200e A\u200e technical\u200e editor\u200e because\u200e of\u200e the book’s subject\u200e and\u200e also\u200e a\u200e normal\u200e editor\u200e to\u200e check\u200e my\u200e grammar\u200e and\u200e proofread\u200e the\u200e book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
