Legal Framework for Environmental Impact Assessments in Guyana

This is a rough draft of a forthcoming article scheduled to be published in the Oil, Gas and Energy Law Journal. It's title is "The Escazu Agreement and the Environmental Impact Assessment process for Petroleum Projects in Guyana: What the law necessitates and the citizens’ right to participate!". It covers the procedure for environmental assessments for petroleum projects in Guyana with a view to highlighting the opportunities for citizens’ participation in it. In so doing, it intends to add to the legal scholarship on this subject, for the benefit of Guyanese stakeholders, and stakeholders from other petroleum producing developing nations who may find Guyana’s perspectives and approaches, useful for their own purposes.
