You Are Going Somewhere

You are always going somewhere.

Even when you are standing still.

Even when you have no plan.

Even when you say, “I don't know what I am doing with my life.”

You are going somewhere.

Your thoughts are taking you somewhere.

Your habits are taking you somewhere.

Your conversations are taking you somewhere.

Your fears are taking you somewhere.

Your repeated excuses are taking you somewhere.

Your attention is taking you somewhere.

And your decisions—or your refusal to make them—are constructing a destination.

We go to work.

We answer messages.

We scroll.

We worry.

We consume information.

We earn.

We spend.

We argue.

We sleep.

Then we repeat the cycle.

Years pass.

One birthday becomes another.

One decade quietly becomes another.

And eventually we ask a devastating question:

“Is this really my life?”

That question can break you.

But it can also awaken you.

This book begins with an uncomfortable proposition:
