This powerpoint presentation of the 'How I Built This' workshop is a deep dive into how to build a social movement and campaign that addresses the emerging needs of communities in times of crisis.
The session focuses on Mutual Aid Kenya (MAK)- a grassroots disaster relief network that my friend Suhayl Omar and I founded in 2020 when the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Kenya. We founded MAK as an informal network based on the principles of solidarity, mutual aid and autonomous direct action.
