RAISING OF SONS

We are seeing more and more

young men dodge the high calling of marriage and family

life because they are looking for ready-made women of

substance. And sadly after marriage they continue in this

path. They were never trained to take responsibility real

love confers on us. How many of us have lost friends,

young wives and mothers to hit and run drivers as they

went from vigil to vigil seeking God's intervention in

their lives because of the men they married?

This book strongly challenges the age long bias in the

training of both male and female children. It uses a very

popular scripture to call us to reevaluate our actions in

the light of God's word. Yes the girl child needs attention

and our protection. She is indeed susceptible to sexual

harassment and economic exploitation. We must

however train our sons to be men. Men who step forward

to be counted when the chips are down. Men who lay

down their lives for the people they love. Our children

are not asking for a lot. They are asking for perspective

parents who will guide them through the tough choices

they have to make through modeling and careful

instruction.
