Developing and equiping productive church workers

INTRODUCTION

The work of the church requires more than one individual to accomplish. It calls for committed workers who will actively participate in fulfilling its mission. For this reason, church workers must be trained and developed—especially in the effective use of the Bible when sharing their faith. They must learn to study the Scriptures deeply in order to make a meaningful impact both within the church and beyond its walls. We are called to equip the saints, and training plays a vital role in this process. Well-trained workers become more effective and efficient in carrying out their responsibilities. The duties of every church worker are both vertical and horizontal in nature. Vertically, their responsibilities are toward God (1 Corinthians 4:1). Horizontally, their duties extend to the visible church, its leadership, and its members (2 Corinthians 4:5). In all these, every church worker is required to be faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2).
