Compared to my earlier poems, Beautiful Poisons and a lot of poems in this collection were recent creations. It's a reflection of the mess in which the people of Niger Delta and Nigerians in general are placed by different political and traditional leaderships over time. But like an Ace in a hole, they (leaders) hang like cloth spread on ropes seen daily digging deep to cover their mess in vain. In the final analysis, and arising from bad governance and lack of accountability, we all suffer in polluted and poisoned environments. It is a mirror of holes in our body polity from the point of view of the Delta where our Poisoned Backyard can't give us gardens of vegetable, et al.
