This book is long overdue.
It is a product of what we have heard, seen and handled not only in our own lives but also in the lives of thousands of singles and couples that God has brought our way as we render our services in this marriage and family ministry (for) close to ten years now. Having seen various ways through which couples jointly abuse their marriage or individual maltreats his/her spouse for reasons that are not and cannot be generally acceptable. It is wise and important to make this available for people all-over the world, so that people don’t wait to see us before they assess and practice the truth, since we cannot be everywhere at the same time and the book can travel as far as anywhere in the world.
There are so many practices that can lead to marital breakdown base on our day to day findings as we interact with couples from various places, denominational and socio background.
Over the years, the real purpose of marriage has grossly misunderstood or not understand at-all. This has resulted to series of abuse and misuse marriage institution is experiencing today.
Love Is Not the True Purpose of Marriage, though love is a necessary ingredient of marriage. It serves as means to an end i.e. purpose. But if you cannot achieve the true purpose of marriage, you have no business getting married.
You love somebody, and you marry her because of that, that is great but that does not make love the primary purpose of marriage. Since people often choose to marry the person they love, they confuse love as the main reason for marrying.
This book basically focused on the way an individual or couple can prevent marital breakdown as a result of lacking the right purpose for getting married. No wonder the adage; ‘’when the purpose of a thing is not known then abuse is inevitable’’. This shows that, one cannot but abuse his/her marriage or spouse if he/she fails to get perfectly acquainted with various purposes for which marriage has been instituted.
