You remember 2015. You remember the brooms. You remember ‘Change.’ This book is for everyone who believed — and everyone who is still waiting.

In 2015, the APC asked Nigeria a question: what if we had a government that was actually serious? What if the looters were held accountable, the insurgents were defeated, and the economy finally worked for ordinary people?

Nigeria answered. Goodluck Jonathan made a phone call, conceded, and walked away. It was this country’s finest democratic moment.

Then the APC governed.

▸ Ten years later, here is what we have:

•        Petrol: from N87 to over N1,000 per litre. Done by the same people who led the Occupy Nigeria protests.

•        Naira: from N197 to N1,500+ to the dollar. Your purchasing power, gutted.

•        Economy: Nigeria was Africa’s largest. It is now fourth. Behind South Africa, Egypt, and Algeria.

•        Security: Boko Haram ‘technically defeated’ in December 2015. Still killing in 2025. Now joined by bandits, ISWAP, and Fulani militias across 20+ states.

•        Corruption: the Transparency International index they used to shame Jonathan got worse under them.

•        Lekki: they shot at young Nigerians singing the national anthem. Nobody was prosecuted.

▸ And the irony that cuts deepest:

Tinubu was at Ojota in January 2012, leading the crowd against Jonathan’s subsidy removal. He called it a war on the poor. On May 29, 2023, in his first sixty seconds as President, he removed the subsidy. Petrol tripled. Then tripled again.

Oshiomhole spent eight years as NLC President leading strikes every time government tried to raise fuel prices. Then he became APC’s National Chairman and watched in silence as the government he served delivered the worst fuel price explosion in Nigerian history.

This book does not take the PDP’s side. It takes Nigeria’s side. And on Nigeria’s behalf, it asks the question that the APC must answer: Were you really better? Or did you just want power?
