Upidim Creek

This story is the story of Ikel Usudwo, a fisherman from Usokun who went on a fishing spree to Upidim Island with his beautiful wife, Osanavi. At Upidim Island, the youths of Kala-ama threatened Ikel Usudwo to stop fishing there with the claim that Upidim Island belongs to their ancestors.

Ikel Usudwo became furious and silent, turned his canoe to Usokun to report the incident to the Council of Elders. Wisdom prevailed and Ikel Usudwo turned what was supposed to ignite an inter-community crisis into an invention that silenced the age-long land dispute between them.
