Timidity, shabby appearance, poverty, wretchedness, low self-esteem, paltriness, incompetence, and the likes, are the common labels the society typically gives to anyone who is a teacher.
Far more than the courageous ones, we have many teachers who lack confidence in their profession, and by extension, they have lost the zeal and inner energy to drive or pursue their career interests.
We have teachers who walk around with the wrong mindset and belief that they do not deserve any form of respect, however small, from the society. It is quite disheartening!
Most teachers feel they are in the most miserable profession, and so this affects how they see themselves within, how they dress, how they carry themselves, and how they socialize.
In fact, the issue of faulty identity has affected the delivery ability of many teachers. Some are not interested in growth or professional development because they have no belief in the profession. Meanwhile, this failure to grow is constantly taking tolls on their competence, as they continue to remain in the same spot year in, year out.
With my experience in the teaching profession, I am certain that teachers can be respected in the society and they can achieve financial stability, if only they are ready to do what is required in terms of Competence and Prestige.
