Desires: What Do You Desire?
One’s desire is like a catalyst or a form of booster of influence. It affects all aspects of a person’s life and plans. Everyone has a desire, and it is this desire which motivates the actions of a person.
The eye, ear, nose, tongue, heart, mind, body, etc. are all doors through which desires are cultivated and expressed. The eye sees, the ear hears, the tongue tastes, the body feels, the nose smells and the heart ends up being influenced by all these sensory perceptions, producing thoughts in the mind, which are in turn expressed on the outside.
It is evident that God will have desires since we came from Him. Scripture says God’s desire is that all men will be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth according to 1 Timothy 2:3-4. God has worked, and continues to work to ensure that this vision is actualized on earth. He empowers men and equips them with all that they need to make His heartbeat a reality. His desire influences His decision and works.
The concept of desires applies to all men. Paul noted in Ephesians 3:13“Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory." This desire of Apostle Paul made him write letters of encouragement to the believers even in prison, "He prayed for them", because of his desire to see them do well in their Christian walk, and not faint amidst persecutions and tribulations.
When your desires are positive and align with God’s purposes and plans, they drive you to prioritize Kingdom work. When they are not aligned with divine pursuits, they compel a man to pursue vanity; things which are in direct contravention to the word of God.
People are moved by their desires; from the home to the corporate world. Take a survey and you will find out that all men have a common motivating factor which is their desires. People are working for money because there is a certain desire which needs to be fulfilled. Many are marrying and acquiring knowledge because of their desire to get something done or get some state changed etc.
Many at times, one can easily depict the desires of a person by the actions and motivations of that fellow. There are positive and negative desires, per the standards of God, which are the Bible and the Spirit.
There are factors which affect one’s desires. These may be economic, social, political and even spiritual. Per research from other sources and the light of scriptures and revelations from the Spirit, one will be guided as he or she reads this book. One will get to know how such factors as the family, friends and even the enemy influence desires and the results thereof in a person's life and also in his or her environment.
If we as children of God have the same heartbeat as our Father in heaven and decide to desire for the treasures laid up for us in heaven, we will work for the economy of heaven and not for this world and its fading glories. It is my hope and prayer that after reading this book, one will be inspired to pursue desires aligned with divine plans, purposes and pursuits in Jesus' name.
