PROVE ALL THINGS -4th Edition

This is the 4th edition of PROVE ALL THINGS. In this edition, much discussion was held on the church. We studied together the relationship and differences of the church and individual Christians. It is a subject that some brethren in different quarters are ignorant and misunderstood, and as such has resulted to some unsound teachings and practices. Besides, we also discussed on the church and social works in order to maintain the spiritual nature of the church works in contrast to various social duties which only individual Christians are obliged to discharge. Likewise, we examined the independence of a local church and its application to the functions of the church. Moreover, we considered the issue of how local churches could scripturally cooperate in their works. There is addendum on the sufficiency of the church which the assigned teacher was unable to address due to understandable reason.

In-between various subjects on the church, we equally examined one challenging issue on marriage, viz.: parental consent, the act of parents' giving out their daughter in marriage for a man to wife. There are some brethren who wrongly opine that parental consent is mere tradition. The study of the issue had shown otherwise that it is God's will for parents to give their daughter to man before he can scripturally claim her as wife. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
