MISTAKES WIVES MAKE IN MARRIAGE - AND HOW TO REMEDY THEM

If Marriage Is a Good Thing, Why Am I Struggling?

Have you ever wondered this?

“If marriage is a good thing, why doesn’t mine feel good?”

I have.

I was born again, Spirit-filled, and (occasionally) demon-chasing😂.

I yearned for a godly, thriving marriage and was doing everything I knew to build one. Yet, despite my best efforts, I kept finding myself in fierce conflict with my husband.

"What is going wrong?" I would constantly ask myself through gritted teeth.

Through prayer, studying Scripture, research, honest self-reflection, and conversations with other women, I began uncovering some uncomfortable truths. I uncovered some seemingly harmless attitudes and patterns I held dear that were quietly sabotaging my marriage.

This book is a heartfelt compilation of the lessons I learned along the way in my quest to become a good wife, scratch that, a godly wife.

I wrote it not from a pedestal of perfection, but from a posture of humility and grace. This book was born from the desire to see God glorified in all areas of a woman’s life, including the dicey area of marriage.

In these pages, we explore common mistakes well-meaning wives often make in marriage, from ignoring Biblical wisdom to trying to mother and change their husbands. The aim is not to condemn, shame, or discourage, but to encourage introspection and invite illumination from the word of God.

It is not a book that shames wives or excuses husbands. Marriage takes two, and husbands certainly have their share of mistakes (which is a book for another day).

This book, however, focuses on what happens when a wife is willing to pause, look inward, and ask:

“Lord, is there anything in me that needs to change?”

It acknowledges that the greatest transformation in marriage does not begin with changing your spouse, but with allowing God to change you.

Inside this book, you will:

  • Discover six seemingly harmless patterns that may be quietly harming your marriage.
  • Explore Biblical and practical remedies for each mistake.
  • Understand what God’s Word says about a wife’s role, attitude, and conduct in marriage.
  • Pause and reflect through meaningful questions at the end of each section.
  • Gain Biblical Wisdom for different seasons of marriage, including the rock-hard seasons.
  • Learn practical ways to cultivate a stronger, healthier, and more God-honoring relationship.
  • Be encouraged to work your marriage as unto the Lord rather than your spouse

In a nutshell, this is a book for the woman desiring to honor God in all areas of her life, including marriage.

Who Should Read This Book?

This book is for you if you are:

  • Newly married and want to build a strong, God-honoring foundation from the start.
  • A wife of many years who desires to refresh, strengthen, or restore your marriage.
  • Preparing for marriage and want to develop biblical wisdom and healthy attitudes before saying, “I do.”
  • Struggling in your marriage and wondering what role you may be playing in the challenges you are facing.
  • Desiring to grow as a wife and become more intentional about honoring God in your marriage.
  • Seeking biblical wisdom for being a God-honoring wife
  • Ready to examine your own heart with humility, grace, and a willingness to let God transform you.

What Readers are Saying About the Book

★★★★★

As a wife of 13 years, I went into Mistakes Wives Make in Marriage and How to Remedy Them thinking I might pick up a few useful reminders. What I didn’t expect was to feel personally addressed, challenged, convicted… and occasionally caught red-handed! 😅

The author has a wonderful way of delivering some very serious truths with clarity, relatable personal stories, intelligent observations, and just the right sprinkle of wit and humour. The jabs came one after another, but always lovingly and without judgement.

At several points, I found myself thinking, “Oh no, you didn’t!” Surely there must be a line she wouldn’t cross. But oh yes, she did! 😂 And, annoyingly, some of those jabs landed exactly where they needed to.

One of the messages that stayed with me most is the reminder that God is the One who designed marriage, and His Word is the manual. We cannot expect to build a thriving marriage while glossing over Scripture or selectively applying the parts that suit us. We are called to dig into it, allow it to challenge us, and most importantly allow it to change us.

And that brings me to perhaps the most uncomfortable takeaway: taking responsibility for my own role in the marriage rather than constantly waiting for my husband to change. The book challenges wives to examine the nagging, the scorekeeping, the “eye for an eye” mentality, the conditional respect, and our sometimes rather creative attempts at getting our husbands to behave the way we think they should. 😬

This isn't a book that simply tells wives what they want to hear. It lovingly holds up a mirror. And sometimes, that mirror is exactly what we need.

If you are a wife who genuinely wants her marriage to thrive, wants to grow personally, and most importantly wants to honour God in her marriage, this is a book worth reading and revisiting. Just be prepared for a few “Oh no, she didn't!” moments along the way! - F. M.

★★★★★

This isn’t a book like any other, as the author is blatantly honest about her struggles. Knowing it was written from a place of authenticity gave me a strong connection to the book, as I felt that my struggles were not only seen, but also valid.

This beautifully crafted book sends the message that though the marital journey is awash with obstacles, there’s a right way to navigate it. The Bible-led way.

I felt challenged and inspired at the same time. Thank you for such a heartfelt and excellently prosed book, Keren! Looking forward to your next one! - Leah J

I applaud Keren for her courage in writing on such a sensitive yet critical subject in the times we are living in. I felt convicted on several issues, and I have no doubt this book will edify the body of Christ and make a lasting impact in many marriages. - Ruth K
