Wherever unity on the truth of God's word is demanded, the truth and errors cannot co-exit. In Christianity, the Holy W Spirit enjoined Christians to be united on the truth of the Holy Writ both as individual Christians and a congregation (Ephesians 4:3; John 17:11, 20-23). However, for more than three score years, one area that some brethren and churches have not been united in their belief and practice is on the works of the church. One offshoot of the controversy is in respect to church benevolence to unbelievers. It is the conviction of some brethren that church benevolence is limited to the saints; while some brethren opined that church benevolence is for all men (both saints and non-saints). So, for brethren to reach an agreement on this issue, diligent study and discussion are necessities (2 Timothy 2:15; Isaiah 1:18). To ignore study and discussion on such issues is a form of weakness and compromise that gives room for unity-indiversity.
This book is a debate between two gospel preachers on scriptural beneficiaries of the church Benevolence. The study as presented in this book is in three parts viz., the debaters' affirmations and negations; the debaters' questions and answers, and readers' questions and debaters' answers. The whole study is on two propositions viz.: (1) It Is Biblically Authoritative that Collection of the Saints Be Used For the Saints Only which Joseph Oyerinde affirms and Item Itaketo negates; (2) It Is Biblically Authoritative that Collection of the Saints Be Used For All Men which Item Itaketo affirms and Joseph Oyerinde negates. You will find it very useful in your study to attain doctrinal unity in Christ.
