STORIES BEHIND INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

This book presents a succinct account of the evolution of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) across the 21st century. It has six chapters that explain its concept using relatable illustrations. It progresses to define some foundational concepts in IPC and moves to real-world implementation across diverse care globally. Furthermore, the book posits that effective IPC implementation does not hinge solely on technical measures but also on culture, leadership, and evidence-based decision-making. 

It narrates, in chronological order and with skill, the history and evolution of IPC from the biblical era through to the 20th century, acknowledging the contributions of several hygienists and scientists, and also highlights the discovery of antibiotics, antimicrobial resistance, vaccines and many other innovations and strategies employed to advance IPC and community health.
